He then describes the destruction and looting of his home during the pogrom, the burning of the synagogues and the expulsion of the Jewish population from his home town. He reports his experience of Dachau concentration camp: camp organisation, daily routine, mistreatment of the prisoners by the SS guards, deaths through beatings and the lack of medical care. After his release from Dachau he was forced to sell his home for a fraction of its value.
