…. Consistent reports have been conveyed to me by several Jews from Dachau I have met here who were arrested as a result of the Novemberaktion that in January this year the prisoners there were kept on so-called “Stehappell” for 36 hours at a stretch, because a Sudeten German prisoner had escaped. This man had managed to slip into the stores and get hold of a uniform, in which disguise he came through and out of the camp unimpeded. He was picked up near Munich however and brought back to Dachau. The prisoners there were fetched out of their beds and had to be present when the escapee returned. As reported, he allegedly received only 25 strokes and 14 days in isolation. However, he was not seen any more, and even prisoners who were in isolation themselves told their comrades that they had not caught sight of him.
