... I have a favour to ask, to accommodate my cousin’s son, since I unfortunately cannot put him up, in Amsterdam if possible, and namely for the following reasons:
The boy’s father was released from the concentration camp on 17th December, had to go straight into hospital and on 23rd December died as a result of blood poisoning from frostbitten hands. He was in business with my father for 20 years and lived with my parents during this time so that he was more a brother than a cousin to me. It is therefore quite natural that the wellbeing of this boy, whose mother has to wait for emigration in Germany, is close to my heart. If he were now to be accommodated in Amsterdam I could do one or two things for him, above all continually report to the mother about her son...
