My dears,

I will pull myself together so as to write you a few lines. We were very pleased to get your letter. Today we got up from schiva and you can imagine how we are. Today at midday Tante Olga and Onkel Jacob came and they left again this evening. We have a lot to talk about and to settle. If you were here, dear Tante Käte, you could help us with lots of things, but alas there is nothing that can be done about it. Don’t you have any friends at all in Switzerland or in Holland or in England who would take me as a domestic servant until my number (19113) comes up.

I would gladly work for my food. Try to help please, immediately. Perhaps I can thank you for it one day. As soon as dear Mama has settled her affairs she is moving with the A.s to X., so that dear Mama will not be so alone here. I can stay with the B.s, until they go away, they are very nice people. Herr B. was even here and visited us. The D.s live in X., often come with the B.s. My dear Tante is quite all right in the circumstances.
