26th November 1938
An NSDAP regulation of 13th November was posted in all the hallways according to which it is forbidden for Jews to sell their furniture. Through this order Jews have been robbed of the last opportunity to make the necessary new purchases for their journeys and to pay the costs of the journey. It can be assumed that this order will trigger a new rush on the emigration cash office of the Kultusgemeinde, even of those travelling who until recently still would have been in a position to bear the costs of their departure themselves.
The other day relatives of Jews who are being accommodated in the Dachau and Buchenwald concentration camps received a pre-printed form signed by the prisoner in question, the sense of which could be read as the following:
I am well. We have a one-month ban on writing and receiving letters because of the heinous murder by a Jewish criminal. I ask you not to bother the Kommandantur with superfluous inquiries as otherwise the ban could be extended.
It is probable that this ban is also valid for those arrested during the riots on 10th and 11th November; this would explain why their desperate relatives have no idea to date about the whereabouts of the prisoners, 14 days after the arrest.
