“...Whilst I am still waiting for a decision from Australia – as no rejection has arrived until now, a certain hope of a positive decision still persists – the situation here has intensified.

My children, a girl of not yet ten and a half years of age and a boy of not quite nine, constitute a matter of serious concern. One endures new fears daily.

Now I hear and read that in Holland aid committees have been formed for Jewish refugees, or rather Jewish children from Germany, and a given number are allowed in and accommodated. Thus I allow myself to make the heartfelt plea, whether it would be possible to send my two children to Holland too, who are in the Quinta of an upper school, that is, the third preparatory class, until we are accepted, i.e. the fate of my wife and myself has been decided.

As you are involved so actively with this committee you will doubtless be able to judge best whether and under what circumstances it would be possible to agree to my request. I am thereby making the thoroughly self-evident assumption that from the standpoint there you also consider that such a sending away is advisable and advantageous for the children.

I ask you to forgive me for bothering you further on this, with the way things are developing and with our fear, and thank you most sincerely for your kindness in advance,

Respectfully yours“
