Veteran Prokurist Winkler of the well-known ladies' wear shop Brill, [Vienna] II., Taborstraße was particularly cruelly treated during his imprisonment which lasted a number of hours. Both of his feet were broken and he is in hospital.
Weiger, former director of the Merkurbank, mentioned in Report no. 1 [B. 25], is said to have lost the hearing in one ear due to a blow to his eardrum.
Amongst the countless Viennese Jewish personalities arrested and taken to Dachau on 10th November was the St. Pölten rabbi and former President of the Association of Jewish Teachers of Religion at Secondary Schools in Vienna, Prof. Dr. Manfred Papo, who was "persona grata" in the Wiener Stadtschulrat [Vienna city school board] during the [Kurt] Schuschnigg era. He was arrested although he had an affidavit and could prove that he had a post with a New York Jewish community.
On Friday the 11th November 200 Jewish funerals are said to have taken place at the Vienna Central Cemetery.
