During a walk towards Bahnhof Zoo-Kurfürstendamm on the morning of 10th November I convinced myself that in no Jewish shop was there even one window pane or glass display case still intact.
One saw crowds of young lads who had arrived later destroying furnishings and stock with hammers and other tools, e.g. in department stores, also in a cake shop, where the window panes had already been smashed. As a result of this destruction I saw e.g. a life-sized dummy fall onto the street from a department store. The crowd thronged the streets and silently watched these excesses with curiosity, without the often mentioned “Volkswut”.
My brother and nephew were arrested and transported to the Sachsenhausen-Oranienburg concentration camp where it is claimed that they have not suffered until now.
